This thought experiment and the vision for the Eco Cash System is inspired by both my educational background as a historian and philosopher, as well as my insights gained from working nearly 20 years as a game designer. A few years ago, I got the idea that the motivational mechanics and designs of Free-to-Play game economies might be used to motivate and communicate sustainable living on an individual level.
Now I've written down my thoughts and I’m sharing them with you in the simple hope that they may help inspire a solution for the huge challenge that lies before us all: to create a fair and sustainable way of life for all mankind.

My name is Anders and I started working on this thought experiment a few years ago when I was struck with a thought: Game mechanics and (especially) Free-to-Play game economy design might be useful for promoting, communicating and motivating sustainable living.
For almost 20 years, I've worked as a professional play and game designer, developing everything from board games and robotic toys to gamified museum experiences and free-to-play mobile games. Looking further back, I come from an educational background in philosophy and history (MA) and my worldview and philosophical training has been a key driver in realizing this vision.
I hope that you'll take time to download and read my paper – and if you find it interesting, please share it with others whom you feel might find it interesting as well.
